WWE: CM Punk - 5 Awesome Matches And 5 That Sucked

2. CM Punk vs Ryback & Paul Heyman - 2 on 1 Hell In A Cell Handicap Match - Hell In A Cell 2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWZx3TfF8Kk If one was to compare CM Punk and Bryan as wrestlers there would be several things that would work in Punk's favour. His mic work, for example, is still far superior to Bryan's and is something that will always see him among the top echelons of the company. However Daniel Bryan has been able in the past to get good performances out of wrestlers that Punk has sometimes struggled with. One example of this is Ryback, who Bryan made look like a real viable wrestling up-and-comer. Punk had several chances over 2012 and 2013 to try and have a good match with Big Hungry- including some with interesting stipulations, including Hell in a Cell and TLC matches. None of them are good, but this is the nadir. It was not helped by the fact that it was the tail end of an angle between Heyman and Punk that had seen a fantastic match at Summerslam but had long since basically been dragged through the mud since then. The match really suffered from being slow and ponderous. While Heyman on the top of the cell may have seemed like a good idea at the start of the match, there is no doubt that having him scamper around the cell may have actually made the match more intriguing. Instead Ryback just looked slow and plodding and without able to use the cell as a prop, he wasn't really able to be able to be that brutal either. A pretty tepid end to a feud that had just gone on for far too long.
