WWE Confirm Prince Devitt Signing
The Irish star is considered a superb in-ring wrestler.
WWE has made official their signing of Irish wrestler Fergal Devitt, with a front page announcement on wwe.com. Better known from the independent and Japanese circuit as Prince Devitt, the 33 year old has a stellar reputation as one of the world's best in-ring workers. As evidence of this he has held the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship three times, additionally winning New Japans Best of the Super Juniors tournament in 2010 and 2013. Despite his reputation and experience, WWE will initially have Devitt report to their Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida. He will then begin his WWE career by wrestling on NXT. This is similar to the signing of fellow international star Kenta, who WWE confirmed as signing earlier in July. With both Kenta and Devitt on NXT, the WWE Network is going to have a superior weekly wrestling show to broadcast. Alongside the likes of NXT stars Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn, WWE's latest signings will complete a roster of superb technical wrestlers. NXT really is the 'wrestling show' out of all of WWE's brands right now. Devitt told wwe.com that he was impressed with the performance centre and was looking forward to showing off a new side of himself in NXT. In the long run however, Devitt is focused on making it to the main roster. The target would be John Cena, because if youre wrestling John Cena, youre in the main event he told wwe.com. It's an ambitious target for the irishman, but he certainly has the in-ring ability to achieve that dream. There will be questions over his look, size and microphone skills, which are all vitally important to making it in WWE. Being a super technical wrestler isn't enough. If Devitt can match his character to the level of his ring skills the sky really will be the limit for this talented grappler.
