1. Cain Rocks The Brock

The jewel in Crown Jewel's crown is as equally perplexing to unscramble as its Raw equivalent. It makes perfect sense for Brock Lesnar to settle the score with Cain, and were this a one-off for the MMA migrant, that's exactly what'd happen, perhaps in a scarcely worked 'shoot fight'. But Velasquez, his crossover appeal perhaps vastly overestimated, is said to be tied to WWE on a 'multi-year' deal over on SmackDown. If they couldn't have Ronda, the next best thing would do. And as such, he really can't debut with a high profile defeat.

But nor, realistically, can he win the company's top championship. Nobody in the history of WWE has ever won the company's top title on their debut, so it would be unprecedented. Would it degrade the brand? Not really: we've reached a point where the promotion is shrouded in such a veil of nihilism that none of it matters. It's less a question of the premise being stretched then, and more one of practicality. Will Cain carry the belt with Rey as his mouthpiece right up until WrestleMania? He can't conceivably lose it until then, but unless he suddenly discovers a hidden talent for promos, there's no obvious alternative.

The contest descending into a brutal brawl and a disqualification as Lesnar seeks revenge is the ideal answer. It'd allow for a no-holds barred 'Mania main event, and just about keep the lid on the company's pot.

Prediction: Brock loses it, causing a ref stoppage. Possibly for the second time in the night.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
