WWE Cruiserweight Champions: Ranked From Worst To Best
14. Chavo Classic
Speaking of stupid...
Chavo Guerrero Sr. - a damn fine wrestler in his day - was hired by WWE to act as the manager of his son, Chavo Jr., in early 2004. The pair were a decent act, and Chavo Sr. (now dubbed Chavo Classic) was a riot whenever he was on commentary. Sometimes WWE had Eddie's brother wrestle, which was a misstep.
In their pursuit to devalue the Cruiserweight Title, WWE then put the belt on Classic after a comedy three-way match, also involving his son and Spike Dudley, on the May 20th episode of the show. Classic won the match after he accidentally fell on his son. Amazingly, Classic held the title for a month and successfully defended it on house shows.
He lost it to Rey Mysterio on the June 17th Smackdown in a very short match and was fired at the taping because he had previosuly no-showed two live events, supposedly in protest at the way his character was being portrayed (the 55-year-old Chavo didn't want to be involved in comedic segments or storylines, apparently).
