WWE CWC: 9 Most Awesome Spots From This Week’s Show (July 20)
1. German Suplex Combo
As well as those other qualities displayed by Tozawa, he’s also a pretty strong dude. That was very much apparent in the German Suplex combo spot he used to defeat Johnson with on Wednesday.
Just moments after Johnson scored the nearest of near-falls, Tozawa popped up and with lightening quickness, transitioned into a rear waist lock to dish out the smoothest and snappiest of German Suplexes. And immediately after, he trumped even that with a Deadlift German Suplex to his much larger opponent before scoring the 1-2-3 with a beautifully bridging pin.
He was highly-rated by many heading into the CWC (including Daniel Bryan) and his win over Johnson proved that he ticks just about all of the boxes.
If he wants to win the tournament outright, he’ll have to go through the likes of Jack Gallagher, Gran Metalik, and Zack Sabre Jr. on his side of the bracket. Based on this performance on Wednesday night, you wouldn’t want to bet against it.
