WWE Draft 2019: 10 Things That Need To Happen
9. Someone Makes The Picks
Fans long in the tooth enough to remember the first Draft back in 2002 may recall a creative stroke of genius that helped it become memorable. Both Ric Flair (representing Raw) and Vince McMahon (representing SmackDown) were in the house to physically name their respective picks and try to outdo one another by piecing together a superior roster.
It. Was. Brilliant.
Now, nobody's suggesting that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff need to drag up old ECW or WCW war wounds if they're the ones chosen on Friday. Nah, it'd actually be for the best if they didn't. However, it'd be something special if WWE acknowledged their stakes in each show and let them be the faces of this Draft.
Both have the promo chops to make this work, and both hold long-term credibility with fans. Further, both stand for very different ideals. Heyman would be concerned with putting together a futuristic roster, and Bischoff (seeking to please FOX masters), would fancy the big stars.
