WWE Draft 2023: 5 Things That Will Happen (And 5 That WON'T!)
8. WILL: Those Hollow TV Announcements
Brace yourselves.
Remember those interminable segments hosted by Stephanie McMahon back in 2020? How about the dreary inserts Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville worked in for the 2021 Draft? Both occasions were examples of WWE monotony. Literally nobody called for these dull-as-dishwater announcements.
In fact, they were probs the worst possible way to reveal picks for Raw and SmackDown. Steph's put-on excitement for everything, and the way Pearce/Deville tried to mimic that but somehow appeared to be bored out of their minds? Yeah, let's not do that again. Sadly, WWE absolutely will. They'll wheel out another authority figure (Pearce again, most likely) to make the announcements.
These skits are agony without wrestler reactions or any kind of context whatsoever. Having a struggling non-wrestler pretend that Big E staying on the same show he was already drafted to is not captivating television, and somebody really needs to let WWE higher-ups know that they're wrecking their own concept by kidding on it is.
