WWE Draft 2024: 5 Things That Will Happen (And 5 That WON’T!)
3. WON’T: Backlash Shaping Plans
Backlash France falls in a "death spot" right after the Draft.
Rosters for Raw, SmackDown and NXT will be locked in by the time WWE travels over for the show, but the card will also be firmed up by then too. That could mean that SmackDown wrestlers are fighting Raw wrestlers on the night, thus squashing the entire purpose of the Draft.
Sure, this is unavoidable due to scheduling, but the PLE's card will take priority over anything that happens mid-Draft. For example, Jey Uso won't be taken out of the World Title picture should he get traded back over to Fridays. WWE will simply roll with his match vs. Damian Priest and then move from there.
The problem? That takes a giant dump on any hopes Jey will win the belt. Y'know, unless Cody Rhodes stays on Raw after all, and Triple H decides to put the World Title on Uso and make it a SmackDown prize. Christ, holding PLEs right after the Draft makes things messy!
