WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 - 6 Positives And 4 Negatives
7. Negative: No Women’s Elimination Chamber Match
This next negative may be a slightly picky one but it just feels like this could have been the perfect year to stage our first-ever women’s Elimination Chamber match.
In 2015, we saw the company tread new ground by contesting both the Intercontinental and Tag Team title bouts inside the Elimination Chamber. This year, staging the SmackDown Women’s Championship match inside the structure could have been another first, plus, it would have continued the form of the past 12 months, in which we’ve seen our first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match and a PPV with a women’s Ironman match in the co-main event.
Most importantly, though, SmackDown actually had the bodies—and the storylines—to justify an all-female Chamber match. With three separate women’s feuds within the division at present there was nothing to stop the company from throwing those rivalries together into one six-person melting pot inside the Elimination Chamber.
Alexa Bliss defending against Naomi, Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Nikki Bella and Natalya could have been a great addition to the show, but at least they'll all be in singles action elsewhere on the card. More on that note later…
