One major problem with these February and March pay-per-views between Royal Rumble-WrestleMania is that they necessitate things WWE creative would probably rather avoid. Asuka vs. Nia Jax is indicative of that; after winning a historic first female Rumble, Asuka shouldn't have to jump through more hoops.

Her 'Mania title shot should be set in stone, not in jeopardy because of a February pay-per-view cliche that should have died a generation ago. We get it, the heel Jax is a threat to Asuka's WrestleMania dreams and the proverbial rug could be pulled from beneath a beloved babyface.

Hardly thrilling stuff to follow on from such an important milestone in WWE women's wrestling, is it?

Jax can't dilute Asuka's title opportunity in New Orleans. If she does, it'll undermine what was achieved in January at the Rumble. Surely Asuka, through sterling work on NXT and Raw, has earned the right to have a lengthy one-on-one match that isn't ruined because someone else needs a pay day.
