7. Ladder Match
Ladder matches are nothing new. Heck, there are two WWE pay per views dedicated to matches that involve ladders. But people love to watch a ladder match, especially if it involves a bunch of high flying, gifted athletes who can do some amazing moves while using the ladder as a prop. Fans also know that when two guys are climbing a ladder at the same time, one of them is going to take a pretty nasty bump. Gravity is a wrestler's biggest enemy, and the higher they get, the more likely it is that they are going to get a nasty injury that could put them out of action. So while ladder matches are fun to see, they're not a match that should be a common occurrence. So why have a ladder match at Extreme Rules? Because one upon a time, back before the days of twenty four seven hardcore title matches, all a ladder match needed in order to be awesome was a ladder. Lately, there have been ladder matches where everything but the kitchen sick got thrown in as well. It's been many moons since two guys competed in a traditional latter match that only involved the ladder itself. While limiting, it also opens the doors for more creativity in the different spots placed throughout the match. Guys like Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, and Sin Cara could elevate the quality of a ladder match and make it look like a five star bout that fans will want to watch again and again. Putting the IC or US titles on the line would also accentuate the importance of the match.
