Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have collectively held the WWE Tag-Team Titles since SummerSlam 2015. There's a simple reason why The New Day haven't thus far had their reign broken by WWE, they've been the most entertaining team on the entire roster. Recently, that has been challenged by the promotion of several tandems from NXT.

The Vaudevillains are amongst those fresh-faces on the main roster, and they are the top challengers for New Day at Extreme Rules. Following a genuine concussion to Enzo Amore at Payback, Simon Gotch and Aiden English advanced through the Tag-Team Tournament to become the main contenders for the belts.

Their story is an unlikely one, only enhanced by a completely wacky gimmick and an unorthodox feel to their entire act. It would be a legitimate surprise if The Vaudevillains left the pay-per-view as WWE Tag-Team Champions, fans would not see that one coming.

Much like The Miz escaping as Intercontinental Champion, therein lies the shock value of seeing a 100% fresh unit at the top of the tag-team tree.
