As per Stephanie McMahon's orders, 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair was banned from ringside for Charlotte's Submission Match against Natalya at Extreme Rules. Oddly, the pair weren't able to replicate their stunning bout at Roadblock when they met at Payback. Regrettably, there was a muted feel to the occasion at this pay-per-view too.

What should have been a potential show stealer from both women turned into a decent-at-best tussle that really struggled to get going. Only handed a little under 10 minutes to work with, there wasn't enough time to effectively build drama, let alone wear down body parts for each wrestler's respective submission hold.

As Natalya had Charlotte locked in the Sharpshooter, Flair's music hit. A woman appeared at the entrance stage wearing his patented robe and a wig. It turned out to be Dana Brooke, who then helped Charlotte win and afterwards celebrated with her new chum and Ric.

Previously aligned with the now-injured Emma, it'll be interesting to see how Brooke pairs with Charlotte. There's a case to be made that the champion is better off on her own.
