Sympathy must be given to Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose, they were up against it at Extreme Rules. As the match immediately following an incendiary Fatal-4-Way for the WWE Intercontinental Title, the mysterious Asylum Match was swimming upstream from the very start. Things didn't improve much from there.

What was supposed to be a vicious battleground quickly became comedic when items like a mop were introduced. Ambrose literally mopped Jericho, leading to sprinkles of laughter from the crowd and from behind the announce desk. That kind of humour didn't feel like it had any place in what was supposed to be a tense grudge bout.

Until thumbtacks were introduced, Ambrose and Jericho struggled to keep the fans onside. The limitations of the 'PG' format were too much to overcome for much of the match, and fan interest began to dwindle.

People were so disinterested in what was put before them that they started chanting for Seth Rollins. That had to hurt both guys involved, because they were working their hardest out there. The chants didn't last too long, but they were definitely audible.
