WWE Extreme Rules 2018: 10 Things That Must Happen
2. The Iron Man Match Is Low-Scoring
There will be zero complaints if the Intercontinental Title Iron Man Match at Extreme Rules finishes 2-1 or 3-2 this weekend. At least, there shouldn't be any grumbles, because the idea that Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler are nip and tuck has been a large part of their story.
Rollins and Ziggler are talented enough, and the 30-minute duration is brief enough, that they needn't go 6-5, 7-6 or anything of the sort. The sole focus should be on ensuring that the competitiveness they've sold in brilliant Raw matches is maintained; this isn't a distraction-heavy Iron Man occasion like Triple H vs. The Rock at Judgment Day 2000, for example.
No, it's a war of attrition between two talented pro wrestling workhorses who want to outdo the other. That, along with the notion that Dolph relies on burly Scotsman Drew McIntyre, is all the drama they need.
Assuming WWE have the confidence to let Rollins vs. Ziggler headline, they'll steal the show. Anyway, it's not as if there's another match on the card that gets the juices flowing like this one does.
