WWE Extreme Rules 2018: 10 Things That Must Happen

5. Rusev Gives AJ Styles A Fright

If this were the 1980s, a match like AJ Styles vs. Rusev would be perfect for one of those Saturday Night's Main Event specials on NBC; as fun as it'll no doubt be on the night, it's not quite there as a full-blown, must-see pay-per-view WWE Title match.

That doesn't mean Rusev can't be booked strongly or to give Styles' lengthy reign a one-off fright.

Otherwise, what's the point in even staging it? Ru-Ru has worked hard to get his "Rusev Day" gimmick over, has great chemistry with Aiden English and has the potential to finally shed years of disappointment to be WWE champ sometime this year. It won't happen on Sunday, but what's the harm in teasing it?

If AJ can overcome Rusev's barrage and the threat of Aiden's interference, he'll continue to look like the champion to beat (more so than Brock Lesnar) in WWE. That's a bold statement, albeit one his in-ring skill and popularity vindicate.

WWE must make this more than a souped up SmackDown main event if they want anyone to remember it afterwards.
