WWE Extreme Rules 2020: 10 Things That Must Happen
2. 'Eye For An Eye' Headlines
Assuming WWE do have something noteworthy in mind for the match (there's a chance they'll try to chicken out of it last-minute), then the 'Eye For An Eye' bout simply must headline Extreme Rules. They can't go from this grim business to talking about McIntyre vs. Ziggler, for example.
The announcers, and everybody generally, must be left horrified by what they see here.
It's been ballsy as f*ck or downright stupid to promote that the match will only end when one worker "loses an eye". Yours truly can't decide if he's game for this silliness or dreading a major cringe moment towards the end of the pay-per-view. That, in some sort of strange way, makes it mega-compelling.
Either way, the bout has social media talking, and that engagement seems more important to WWE these days than following through on promises. They've booked a lot of stunts lately, including guys "getting thrown off WWE HQ", the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" and more.
This, for better or worse, is a natural end point for the show.
