WWE Fastlane 2018: 10 Things That Must Happen
5. Bobby Roode & Randy Orton Go To A Non-Finish
After all that, Bobby Roode and Randy Orton can go to a non-finish in their title match and sow the seeds for a Triple Threat with Jinder Mahal at 'Mania 34. Seems obvious, yes, and yet it's also the most logical path for WWE to go down.
Roode vs. Orton vs. Mahal has Kickoff show written all over it anyway, and it's hardly as though a rematch between the first two is anything to shout about. A simple brawl around ringside that ends in Mahal scrapping with both makes sense here. Then, Jinder can whine about having to face two men at WrestleMania when Roode should really be the one annoyed.
It should become clear now why Shinsuke Nakamura's match with Rusev would be the pay-per-view's opening match. Booking a non-finish to open the show feels crappy, and it'd work best if Roode vs. Orton was kept for third or fourth on the card.
There's no way around it: the US Title mix will mimic what's happening over on Raw with the Intercontinental Title.
