WWE Give Up Trademark To Released Wrestler

This released WWE wrestler is no longer in a legal battle for her birth name...

A strange WWE trademarking battle unfolded this weekend, as Chelsea Green revealed that she was fighting the company for the rights to her birth name (which is also what she goes by in the ring).

Green, who was released by WWE in April 2021, tweeted the following on Sunday:-

The Canadian had previously wrestled as Laurel Van Ness in IMPACT Wrestling, but competed under her real name on the independent scene before joining WWE in 2018. This continued from the moment she arrived at the Performance Center that August until she was let go this past April.

Fightful Select are reporting that the fight came to an end on Sunday, when WWE contacted Green to let her know that they are going to release the trademark so that she may use it. The promotion filed an application for "Chelsea Green" in September 2020, two months before the 30-year-old signed a multi-year contract extension.

Green has told Fightful that she will discuss the situation on her Green With Envy podcast.

Though she is yet to officially sign anywhere, Green has appeared for IMPACT, Ring of Honor, and the National Wrestling Alliance since departing WWE.
