WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Wrestlers - Where Are They Now?
18. Apollo Crews

Then: Without being cruel, it's definitely a shock that the constantly overlooked Apollo Crews has lasted as long as he has in WWE. That's not meant as a dig at his talent - the guy is skilled, but nothing has ever really clicked for him. That includes his time as a 'Nigerian Prince' who had descended from African royalty.
They tried, they really did. Ultimately, that gimmick stunk up the place for a while then vanished.
In 2018, Crews was under Titus O'Neil's wing (more on him to come) as part of 'Titus Worldwide'. That meant little to fans, and it's presumably why Apollo's 3 minute slot in the GRR came and went without much fanfare. He was another who got chucked out of there by Randy Orton.
Now: Crews is still very much on the current WWE roster, but he isn't active at time of writing. He had surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle in February 2025, and he hasn't wrestled since. It remains to be seen precisely what Hunter and the rest of the creative nucleus will do with "Apolloooooooooo" once he does burst back onto the scene.
Probably nothing, let's be brutally honest about it right here and right now. If things were going to pop off for Crews in WWE, then it would've happened long before now. If anything, he'll get the most mini of mini pushes for a few weeks then become background noise all over again.
That seems to be the vicious cycle he's stuck in. At least the man's getting paid though, right?
