Whilst the last ten years have seen WWE put on an annual Hell in a Cell PPV each October, this year the slate was listed as TBC where October 2019 was concerned. Until now, that is.

Following in the same pattern as the past decade, WWE’s yearly Hell in a Cell PPV has been confirmed to be taking place on October 6th from Sacramento, California’s Golden 1 Center. As probably predicted, the event has been scheduled for just two days after WWE's Friday night SmackDown debut on Fox.

Given that the event is happening nearly three months from now, so much can change in the landscape of Raw and SmackDown Live leading into the event, but there are two matches tentatively scheduled for the event.

As part of local advertising, Seth Rollins is due to defend the WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre, and then WWE Champion Kofi Kingston is booked to defend his title against Randy Orton.

The one thing that instantly jumps out about those two advertised matches is the small fact that Seth Rollins isn’t actually the Universal Champion right now. Rollins, of course, lost the Universal Championship to Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules after Paul Heyman’s Beast cashed-in his Money in the Bank contract.

Lesnar will be defending said Universal Title against The Beast Slayer at August 11th‘s SummerSlam PPV, so it remains to be seen whether the Hell in a Cell advertising is serving as a spoiler of sorts. As ever, remember, all advertised events are “card subject to change”, so this could play out either way.

Tickets for Hell in a Cell will go on sale from Friday, July 26th and can be purchased via the usual outlets.
