WWE Helping Fund New Wrestling Streaming Service?

Independent promotions are about to enter the streaming world.

It was only a matter of time before some other company offered a streaming subscription service for professional wrestling, but it looks like WWE may have a hand in this one as well.

WrestlingInc has revealed that FloSports is expected to announce this week that several independent wrestling promotions will be joining their network to stream content. Right now the network has services for track, hockey, rodeo and many other niche sports.

WWE comes into play here, as a couple months ago FloSports revealed that they received over $20 million in new funding, with WWE listed as one of the investors.

This is certainly an intriguing development, as WWE has been sending out multiple surveys asking fans about their interest in gaining access to smaller promotions like Evolve, Ring of Honor and PWG. Perhaps that content won't be on the WWE Network itself, but will land on FloSports, which the company seems to own a piece of.

Subscriptions for the channel/network are $20 a month or $150 a year, which is currently more expensive than the WWE Network.

We should likely find out this week what independent promotions we'll soon have more access to.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
