WWE Invasion Angle PPVs - Ranked Worst To Best
3. Survivor Series 2001
Looking back, it is easy to judge the Invasion angle (and this PPV's premise especially) considering how much of a farce we all know it was. At the time however, if you were of a certain age and invested in the drama, then this final event in the Invasion saga was a high stakes shootout with every match taking on more importance than they ever could warrant before.
The video package that kicked off the show did wonders to suspend disbelief and gave a truly 'big event' feel to the night. The show ramped up as we were treated to a classic Title Unification Cage Match between The Hardys and Dudleys whilst Edge and Test delivered a surprisingly impressive match to unify the Intercontinental and US Championships.
A fun Battle Royal and a rare thrilling Women's Championship match led us into the classic Survivor Series elimination main event. A quick glance at the members of “Team Alliance” reveal the real problem with the Invasion angle as a whole, but the match here was a frantic, fast paced ride full of twists and turns. The talent on offer was some of the best the company has ever produced and with so much of the story already being set up for them, they were able to showcase their skills and deliver a match that is one of the best in the event's long history.
