WWE Is Seriously Rethinking How It Books Mexican Wrestlers (WWE News)

WWE set to put a renewed focus on Mexican wrestlers.

The ongoing WWE rise of Penta is looking like it may help pave the way for a renewed focus on Mexican stars in the market leader and beyond.

Speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that having Mexican stars in higher positions on the card right now is more valuable than it was earlier in the year. As Meltzer highlighted, the episode of Raw last month where Penta challenged Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship in Mexico City was the second-highest-rated Raw of the entire year when it comes to a global audience.

The Observer founder noted that it's smart for both WWE and AEW to have Mexican talents in strong positions, and in positions for them to become "drawing, key people".

Of course, Penta has since won the men's Money in the Bank briefcase after coming up short against Roman in that Raw match, and one has to believe that he's got a strong chance of successfully cashing in and winning a World Championship in the coming months.

As for other Mexican stars in WWE, Dragon Lee has become a heavily featured player in recent months, even though his existing WWE contract is reportedly coming up and a new deal has yet to be agreed. Likewise, Rey Mysterio continues to mesmerise as he holds off Father Time, regularly putting on incredible performances despite turning 52 later this year and having suffered numerous major injuries over the decades.

Elsewhere, Raquel Rodriguez has consistent TV time every Monday night and is the current Women's Intercontinental Champion, while the past few months have seen a renewed focus on Penta's brother, Rey Fenix, who's been competing across all WWE brands as he defends his AAA Cruiserweight Championship.

On top of this, recent rumblings suggest that Dragon Lee's brother, Dralistico, could potentially be about to swap AEW for WWE, as well as uncertainty right now over Lee and Dralistico's other brother, Rush.
