WWE Issues Statement On CM Punk's Healthcare Criticism

WWE defend their medical team.

WWE are not happy at CM Punk's criticism of their healthcare. The company issued a statement on Thursday saying "WWE takes the health and wellness of its talent very seriously and has a comprehensive Talent Wellness Program that is led by one of the most well-respected physicians in the country, Dr. Joseph Maroon." This was in response to Punk's comments on the Colt Cabana podcast, where he disparaged WWE's medical testing and Senior Ringside Physician Chiris Amann. Punk also stated that he was hurt on several occasions but got pressured to work from WWE management. The biggest accusation Punk made was that Amann misdiagnosed a MERSA staph infection. Punk had been bothered by the swell in his back for three months, but Amann wrote it off as just a fatty deposit. When Punk left WWE in late January, he ended up getting the swell checked out by an independent doctor. It was at this point Punk got told he had a MERSA staph infection. The independent doctor was stunned that Punk had been working with this for three months, and revealed that the wrestler was lucky to not be dead. Obviously this was a huge oversight on Amann's part. Punk could even consider legal action, or vice versa Amann could consider legal recourse if Punk's words were inaccurate. The independent doctor ended up draining Punk's infection and the wrestler is now feeling healthier and happier than he ever has done.
