3. 'Twin Magic' Harks Back To 'Dusty Finish'
Before her match against Nikki Bella for the WWE Divas Championship, the UK-born Paige noted during her pre-match promo that the upcoming bout was dedicated to the memory of Dusty Rhodes, someone the Diva had worked with down in NXT. It was a nice touch, but it was the end of the match which paid the ultimate tribute to the smooth-talking soul man. Doing as they have done on WWE television for years, The Bella Twins switched out mid-match, as Brie Bella tried to take her sister's place and retain her title. Whilst it is baffling when referees and opponents fail to notice something which has happened with alarming regularity, it worked well during this one. Rolling up Brie, Paige thought she had won the title, only for the defeated Bella to reveal herself to be the illegal twin. This meant the match was still ongoing, and Nikki struck from behind to eventually come out on the winning end. As many longtime fans will know, this was akin to the age-old 'Dusty Finish', whereby a wrestler appears to win, only for the match to be restarted after a false flag situation.
