WWE Money In The Bank 2016: 10 Awesome Moments

6. AJ Styles Breaks His Pay-Per-View Losing Run

Thus far, AJ Styles has appeared on 6 WWE pay-per-view events, working matches on every one to date this year. Obviously, he didn't win the 30-man Royal Rumble affair, but he was handed a victory over Chris Jericho at Fastlane. That was followed up by a loss to Jericho at WrestleMania 32, and back-to-back defeats at the hands of Roman Reigns at both Payback and Extreme Rules.

Fans could therefore be forgiven for feeling that the former TNA and NJPW man had no chance against WWE's poster boy, John Cena at Money In The Bank. Much like Apollo Crews, AJ's win wasn't the most convincing (in terms of the finish anyway), but it was still a win.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson may be the ones taking storyline credit for the triumph, but it was great to see Styles break that losing run on the pay-per-view. Beating John Cena, even with outside interference, is still incredibly positive for Styles going forward in the company.

A conceivable rematch will likely end in defeat for AJ, but that can't strip this moment from him.
