12. John Cena (Money In The Bank, 2012)
Cash In: Unsuccessful.
Becoming the first ever star to unsuccessfully cash-in their MITB contract, John Cena would win his pre-announced WWE Title match against CM Punk at Raw 1000 via DQ (courtesy of Big Show) and therefore didn't walk away with the belt at the end of the night.
This had little to no effect on Cena's career as he went on to win the gold at WrestleMania 29, taking down The Rock in their 'Mania XXVIII rematch main event. He'd enjoy several World Title reigns in the years that followed and even added some much-needed prestige to the United States Championship during his 2015 run with the belt.
Notable feuds with AJ Styles, The Miz and Roman Reigns all took place from 2016 onwards until Cena decided to take some time away from wrestling to pursue a movie career. He still made sporadic appearances, such as tearing down Elias at WrestleMania 35, but Cena had very much become a part-timer.
Most recently he took part in a critically acclaimed Firefly Fun House match with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36, although he hasn't been seen in the company since.
