3. The McMahon Helmsley Era
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkgcNjH-gNM Despite their differences after the dissolution of DX, the New Age Outlaws reunited as a tag team in September 1999. Proving that they hadn't lost any of their guts over the years, their first target as a team again was the biggest team in the company at the time, The Rock and Sock Connection. Mr. Ass and the Road Dogg took advantage of some miscommunication between the champions and pinned Mankind after a Fame Asser to win the WWF Tag Team Titles for a fourth time. Soon after, The Outlaws joined forces with their old friends again, this time in a heel version of Degeneration X led by Triple H who was now the World Heavyweight Champion. This DX was in direct opposition to the major stars of the company in Stone Cold, the Rock and Mick Foley and would eventually become the McMahon/Helmsley Faction when Stephanie McMahon and Triple H stole the WWE from Vince in late 1999. DX and the Outlaws enjoyed the perks of owning the company, booking themselves into favorable situations including a fifth Tag Team Title reign that lasted from November 1999 to February 2000 that boasted some great matches against the likes of the Hardyz and Edge and Christian. The best of the feuds during this period came when the Outlaws were involved in a memorable series against the Acolyes. After becoming number one contenders to the belts, Faarooq and Bradshaw found themselves at an unfair advantage on a number of occasions including being subjected to Handicap matches against DX. The Outlaws even beat them at their own game by luring them to their favourite bar, the Friendly Tap and instigating a bar fight then escaping to let the APA deal with it. At the Royal Rumble, the Outlaws successfully defended the belts against them in a short but sweet match thanks to interference from fellow DX member X-Pac. The Outlaws reunion would be cut short in February 2000 when Billy Gunn suffered a injury that would keep him out of action for 8 months. After tearing his rotator cuff in a match against the Dudley Boyz, Gunn was kicked out of DX for costing them the Tag Team Titles. Billy took some time off to deal with his injury while X-Pac replaced him as Road Dogg's tag team partner for the next few months. Billy Gunn remained part of the WWE roster until 2004 while Road Dogg only lasted until early 2001 when he was released due to personal problems relating to drug abuse.
