WWE Night Of Champions: 10 Hidden Gem Matches You Must See
3. Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho (2008)
Kofi Kingston appears to finally have found his calling in WWE. As part of The New Day, Kingston looks motivated once again, after years of toiling without direction in the mid card pack. Rewind to 2008, and there was a lot of optimism that Kofi would be a future main event star for the promotion. WWE bigwigs had a lot of faith in his abilities, which became clear at Night Of Champions 2008. There wasn't really much story to speak of in the lead-up to this match. It was instead sprung upon fans, and could have easily become a mid card afterthought. Chris Jericho was on fire in 2008 however, and he was in the middle of a red hot feud with Shawn Michaels. HBK would play a part in the bout, costing Jericho the Intercontinental Title. Around 11 minutes of Pay-Per-View time seemed a little generous for a match with no context, but the ongoing Jericho vs. Michaels saga helped proceedings. As for the bout itself, Kingston covered himself in glory with his performance, looking like a star in the making. One of the biggest throwaway matches in Night Of Champions history also stands out as one of the most overlooked.
