WWE Night Of Champions: 10 Hidden Gem Matches You Must See
2. Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler (2012)
2012 was another year of false dawns for Dolph Ziggler. At the Royal Rumble in January, he challenged CM Punk for the WWE Title. What looked like a promising start to the year ended up being little more than an excuse for WWE to continue the Punk vs. John Laurinaitis feud. Come Night Of Champions in September, Ziggler was engaged in a mid-card rivalry with Randy Orton. Around this time, Dolph had Vickie Guerrero in his corner. The pair worked well together, but did often seem like a re-tread of Vickie's previous onscreen romance, Edge. For his part, Orton was often in the World Heavyweight Title picture in 2012. The match between the pair at Night Of Champions was therefore proposed as 2 major stars jousting for a shot at the gold. The story was fairly weak, but the actual match itself would end up being stellar. Situated smack bang in the middle of the card on the show, Orton vs. Ziggler lasted just shy of 20 minutes. There was enough time for both excellent performers to weave drama, and that's exactly what they did. As a standalone match, there are few better at Night Of Champions.
