7. The Double Submission Non-Finish

Double moves became a theme of the WWE Title Triple Threat. Following that wonderful simultaneous German Suplex spot was another that acted as a crucial point in the match. Using the man's own finishing hold against him, Dean Ambrose locked AJ Styles in the Calf Killer. Unsurprisingly looking to break up the move, John Cena did so in a truly interesting way.

Instead of throwing a mere kick at Ambrose to stop the chance of him winning, Cena joined in on the fun of torturing AJ. Positioning himself gently, Cena locked on an STF. Left with no choice, the reigning WWE Champion frantically tapped out.

Unable to determine who was responsible for this, referee Mike Chioda elected to keep the match running. Waving the non-finish off, Chioda allowed each man to continue. The insinuation was clear, Styles had been a beaten man.

Nonetheless, he was able to rally and come out on top. The non-finish came across as organic, the kind of confusion that should happen when there's more than two wrestlers involved in a major match.
