WWE No Way Out In Review - Title Matches Save Lacklustre PPV
Steel Cage Match: John Cena vs Big Show - If Cena Loses He's Fired, If Big Show Loses John Laurinaitis Is Fired The Big Show and Cena match was slightly more appeasing than I expected. Show pulled out the big moves and worked John Cena, while Cena used is quick mobility to attempt to gain the upper hand. The McMahon and John Laurinaitis involvement was expected and worked better than imagined, while the run-ins from Clay and other of Show's victim's while although may have seemed a little over the top booking it was still plausible and relevant. Given with all the above the match still didn't stand up to either of the World Title matches that had taken place earlier on in the card. The ending was a standard 'Who will make it out first?' affair that didn't really culminate into much anticipation. Its unfortunate that such a match is used to close the show, while there are far more crowd pleasing and important title matches that should take precedent. In Brief: A slow paced, over booked show closer that felt more like an ending of Raw than it a did to a Pay Per View. Honourable mentions - The Announce Team One notable point from the PPV was the announce team actually came across much better tonight. Cole, King and Booker T spent a fair amount of time putting over the talent and were far more appetising to the ears. Michael Cole pushed Sin Cara heavily in his match, referring to his Mexican roots and how much of a star he was in his home country. He even related to Daniel Bryan as a man who had travelled around the world, working the independents for years honing his craft, that was a big change of tune since Bryan's NXT days. Booker T even parted from his usual nonsensical gibberish with (while not JR quality) decent commentary. Cole stated in reference to Big Show that giants could not be beat, especially 400 and 6ft 4 giants at that. Booker quipped back 'Well he must never have heard the story of David and Goliath' also after Cena swiftly moved for Big Shows elbow drop Booker screamed 'Look at the ring, watch the ring almost collapse!' we were then shown a slow motion replay of Show's body bending the ring inwards on impact. A good call back to the Henry/Show collision a few months back where they destroyed the ring. Again, not JR quality but a big leap from his usual Shucky Ducky Quack Quack references. It's by no means a massive jump from the norm but it's a start and when a fan can again start relating to the commentators remarks and have you thinking on events relevant to the action in the ring, then you know your going n the right direction. Unfortunately King had to divulge from the trend stating 'Hear these fans? They are all chanting Sheamus' when in fact the sound echoing around the arena was in fact 'Ziggler' Note to King, we are not deaf or stupid. Overall show: A card which didn't hold much promise but delivered in the expected areas. The two Championship matches were the stars of the night and it's unfortunate that matches of this calibre are being demoted from the main event. Had some of the other matches been given more hype or even a sense of direction then the crowd and fans could have been given reason to invest.
