WWE NXT In Lowell - 10 Live Observations
It's possible we see Finn Balor surface on WWE Raw in the foreseeable future.
If there is any one thing I've learned in my time as a wrestling fan, it's to attend every live event you can because you never know what might happen. Combine that with NXT's debut in Lowell, MA on Thursday, April 21 and I knew for a fact I had to save myself a seat.
Although I was expecting a fun night of wrestling going in, the event was ultimately greater than anything I could have imagined. From Samoa Joe's shocking NXT Championship victory to Christopher Girard's upset over Tomasso Ciampa, it was an evening for the ages.
There is little doubt NXT is the hottest ticket in wrestling today, and with the black-and-yellow brand beginning to tour across the United States and beyond, you will never want to miss your chance to experience NXT if their Lowell live event was any indication. It will also grant you the opportunity to see stars that have yet to make it to TV, interact with the athletes and likely have an even grander time than you would at a television taping.
As someone who was in attendance for NXT Lowell on Thursday night, here are ten interesting observations of my own.
10. Baemella Is Absolutely Adorable
Any avid viewer of the hit WWE Network series "Breaking Ground" would know of the strong friendship between Bayley and Carmella outside the ring. Their bond wasn't well-documented on NXT until just earlier this year when Carmella became the No. 1 contender to Bayley's NXT Women's Championship in the weeks leading up to their title match. Even as opponents, they remained respectful toward each other and quickly captured the hearts of the NXT faithful.
In Lowell, Bayley didn't go back after the NXT Women's title she lost in Dallas. Instead, she reunited with Carmella in tag team action against Dana Brooke and Peyton Royce. The match itself wasn't much of note, but rather a total showcase for the fan favorites, and a fun one at that. They spun around on the heels at the same time, played to the crowd and simply had an enjoyable time.
It was clear to me watching this that they bring the best out of one another, especially Carmella who has only improved throughout her friendship with Bayley. It will be a sad day when Bayley ultimately gets called up to the main roster (following in the footsteps of Carmella's boys Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady) and she will be forced to fend for herself again.
If tag team titles for the women are ever instituted in NXT, Baemella would be my top pick.
