WWE NXT Takeover London - 10 Interesting Observations From Attending Live
5. Asuka Is Awesome
The opening match pitted Asuka against Emma. Asuka received a huge pop and it was clear that her appearance was one of the highlights of the show for many people. To watch her live was amazing. Everything she did was so crisp and so smooth. It all looked effortless and was an absolute joy to watch. It was also noticeable that she looked more vulnerable than ever before, and Emma looked more aggressive than before, which made for a good contest. But what also captured my attention was how the entire crowd at Wembley Arena was reacting to her submission moves and shouting Tap! to Emma. I just cant picture that happening in the main roster WWE. They have some excellent wrestlers on the main roster, like NXT alumni Paige, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and more, but so long as theyre branded as Divas, then they will always be viewed as second class citizens in comparison to the men. In NXT, they are women, not Divas, fighting over the NXT Womens Championship. They are presented as equals to the men and are received by the fans as such. The fans clearly have respect for the women of NXT.
