Asuka vs. Nia Jax didn't come close to the epic between Bayley and the Japanese grappler at TakeOver: Dallas, but that's perhaps an unfair comparison. The sheer size of Jax makes for a very different proposition, those working with her have to act like they're fighting a giant. That was the core narrative at TakeOver: The End.

Vicious strike and submission combinations were Asuka's bread and butter, and they expertly explained why she left still NXT Women's Champion. Jax has noticeably improved in the past few months, but it was the smart decision to have Asuka remain as champ and continue ploughing forward to a rematch against Bayley.

The ending of the Jax vs. Asuka match was well played out. After Nia had powered out of a submission hold, Asuka was forced to repeatedly thump her with stiff kicks, forcing her opponent to scream in defiance. A few more later and Jax was down for the count.

Even though she was a temporary sideshow to the Asuka vs. Bayley issue, Jax didn't lose any heat by being pinned in this manner.
