WWE officials told Impact Wrestling and occasional AEW star Lady Frost that she was "too old" to earn a full-time contract with the promotion back in 2018.

Frost (going by the name Jamie Frost) wrestled Asuka on the 26 March episode of Raw that year - the bout lasted just 30 seconds, and it was little more than a squash designed to bolster Asuka's position on the brand. Still, at least Lady got some promo time at ringside with Charly Caruso before getting destroyed.

The Impact newcomer told Fightful Select that her promo was originally supposed to be pre-taped, but WWE were impressed by her poise on the mic and decided to make it live. Afterwards, they said she'd done well with the spot. That's when the hammer blow "too old" news came.

One must wonder why the company bothered to bring Frost in for a tryout at all. Surely, assuming they'd done some homework, they knew her age beforehand. It can't have come as some huge surprise to them that she was already in her 30s then.

Frost had been optimistic about landing a contract, and was naturally despondent to hear that it was a no.
