WWE Payback 2016: 10 Awesome Moments
4. Roman Reigns Gets Driven Through The Announce Table By Phenomenal Forearm
Another excellent punctuation point came when AJ Styles and Roman Reigns took their battle for the WWE Title to the outside. After trying fruitlessly to make the champ submit to the Calf Crusher, Styles then hit his foe from the apron to the outside. What happened next was a thing of sheer beauty.
AJ is one of the more graceful aerial artists WWE have under contract, something he proved once again at Payback. As Reigns rested against the announce table, Styles hit his Phenomenal Forearm. Diving from the ropes to the outside, his momentum sent both men crashing through the desk.
Sometimes, such bumps can be ruined by an unforgiving announce table. That didn't hamper proceedings, the wood and plastic gave way without much fuss. Importantly, AJ hurled his entire body at the table, taking most of the impact himself.
This spelled the first false ending of the match, a count out decision frostily frowned upon by the capacity crowd. Shane McMahon was on hand to restart things, meaning this spot got lost in the shuffle a little. It begs for a second look.
