WWE Payback 2016: 10 Things WWE Got Right

7. Using Owens/Zayn Distraction To Help The Miz

In similar fashion to the WWE Women's Champion, the WWE Intercontinental Champion is a proper heel.

Content to snatch opportunity even when it's immoral, The Miz is a character that only cares about victory. That selfish nature can be construed as cowardly, but Miz stood up to Cesaro at Payback before snatching the win amidst controversy.

There's nothing wrong with that, it's how he should be booked. Looking at things logically, why wouldn't The Miz look to capitalise on Cesaro taking his eye off the ball to deal with a brawling Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn? That's exactly what he should be doing.

It felt clever to have Owens and Zayn have an impact on the Intercontinental Title bout. Cesaro looked to have Miz beat before the referee's attention was diverted, and that caused the 'Swiss Superman' to get wrapped up in the external fight too.

Surely, Extreme Rules will feature a 4-way match involving everyone at Payback. That makes perfect sense, and the story will be to see how The Miz can weasel his way out of another title defence.
