WWE: Ranking Undertaker's 21 WrestleMania Victories Worst To Best

6. Batista, WrestleMania 23

The World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 23 was a battle in the same vein as Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI in that it featured two of the most popular stars of the era battling it out for the top prize in the sport. Batista and Undertaker had ruled atop the SmackDown brand for nearly two years but had never really had any reason to interact until the latter won the 2007 Royal Rumble, earning himself a shot at the World title at the Showcase of the Immortals. When Batista betrayed him during the tag team main event of No Way Out in February, it only intensified their rivalry. While there were other matches on the card with more hype surrounding them, old school wrestling fans singled out the Batista-Undertaker clash as the most must-see bout on the card. In a titanic clash between two of the most talented big men in WWE history, Batista and Undertaker did not waste time with mat or counter wrestling. Instead, they slugged it out and utilized their size and strength to their advantage. A powerslam through an announce table turned the tide in Batista's favor but Undertaker never allowed himself to lose control for too long. Like former Evolution teammates Randy Orton and Triple H had in the past, Batista fell victim to a Last Ride powerbomb after pounding away at the Dead Man in the corner. A series of near-falls off of Batista's signature and finishing moves only helped to increase the drama and crowd reaction that accompanied the match from its inception. Eventually, Undertaker ended Batista's night with the Tombstone and captured the first World Heavyweight Championship of his career. Fueled by anger over their position on the card, Undertaker and Batista delivered a show-stealing performance on what was, until 2012's event, the highest-grossing pay-per-view of all-time.
