WWE Raw: 10 Things You May Have Missed (Dec 5)

6. Rich Swann's Character Development On 205 Live Was Needed On Raw

Before the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion faced T.J Perkins on Raw, Rich Swann was shown winning the title from Brian Kendrick on the debut episode of 205 Live. As highlights of his victory played, Swann could be seen discussing his tough upbringing and what made him more motivated than ever to become a success in WWE.

When watching this, it was hard not to wonder why WWE had waited so long to divulge such information. Basic character development like that has been sorely lacking from the Cruiserweight division as a whole, and a large part of why some performers have struggled.

Losing his father at age 12, Swann then lost his mother at age 16. Clearly emotional, he dedicated that massive Cruiserweight Title win to his family.

It would have been better to have that kind of storytelling on Monday Night Raw beforehand, rather than saving it for 205 Live. Less hardcore WWE fans may not have tuned into that new show, meaning they would have missed out on some key character development.
