WWE Raw: 10 Things You May Have Missed (Sept 12)
6. Corey Graves Comparing The Club To Demolition
The Big Boss Man fan wasn't the only old-school reference that Raw managed, Corey Graves also brought up one of the most legendary tag-teams of all time. Nobody can argue with the fact that Graves is good at his job, especially when he staunchly defends the actions of the heels on the brand, but his timing was a little off with this one.
As Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were building heat in their match against Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, Corey could be heard briefly comparing The Club to Demolition. Any older fan could tell you that Ax and Smash were two of the most dominating performers of the late-1980's and early-1990's.
Such a comparison might have worked had Gallows and Anderson not been branching out into attempts at comedy recently. Maybe Graves was yearning for the creative team to book The Club as smash-mouth villains, rather than comedic heels who are trying to garner laughs from the live audience.
Corey didn't labour the point, moving on quickly from the Demolition reference when he didn't get anything back from Byron Saxton or Michael Cole.
