In the modern era, depriving a live crowd of a big match remains a challenge for WWE's writing team. Announcing that Wrestler A will face Wrestler B, but not on that night regularly infuriates the audience, more so those in attendance than those watching from the comfort of their own homes.

On this week's Monday Night Raw, Mick Foley left the crowd deflated by building up the idea that Seth Rollins would challenge Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Title. At first, it seemed like the pair would lock horns that evening, but Foley instead announced that the bout would take place on the upcoming Clash Of Champions pay-per-view.

A later announcement backstage that Owens would go one-on-one with Sami Zayn did remedy things just a little, but the crowd's disappointment was audible when the words 'Clash Of Champions' were uttered. Nowadays, wrestling fans really don't like waiting for things, but in their defence Foley's promo did make it sound like the match would happen imminently.

This led to a lack of noise as Mick's entrance music blared, when fans should have been excited.
