WWE Raw: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (May 30)

7. Less Is More?

At the top of the first hour, Roman Reigns came out to address Seth Rollins's return and subsequent ascension to the position of number one contender. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion kept things short and sweet (though he did manage to sneak the world's worst catchphrase in), then called out Rollins to face him then and there.

Rollins came out and teased talking, but dropped his microphone and ran to the ring. He stopped before getting there, though, then proceeded to do the same thing over and over again. He kept faking out Reigns, but the champion didn't really seem to mind or care. Eventually, Rollins just left.

There's a lot that can be said about the angle itself, but there was something more interesting to notice: this episode of Raw was the ninth since WrestleMania, and the fifth on which Roman Reigns did not wrestle (Kevin Owens, by contrast, has only missed one). It's also one of a few in which he's made an appearance at the 9:00 hour, then hasn't shown up again.

WWE clearly seems to be hoping that by using Reigns sparingly, they can offset the harsh reaction he's been receiving from fans. It's simply not working, though. Whomever's calling the shots needs to finally accept that the only way to get the fans on Reigns's side is to seriously change the way he's used. If that won't happen, accept the hatred.
