Last week, Curtis Axel was attacked from behind by his former running-buddy Bo Dallas. The general gist of the story appears to be that Dallas is incensed by the idea of anybody trying to steal his spotlight, so he wasn't happy at Axel celebrating his victory. This week, WWE pushed the reset button on Axel.

Treading water for years now, the man is effectively fodder for those being taken more seriously by the writing team. A solid in-ring performer, Axel is more likely to stare at the lights for someone on the receiving end of a push than receive one himself.

Before facing Bo on Raw, Curtis talked about the legacy of his family in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bringing up his grandfather and father, Axel received loud cheers for mentioning Larry 'The Axe' Hennig and Curt 'Mr. Perfect' Hennig.

This is a throwback to when Axel was aligned with Paul Heyman, only this time the wrestler is being portrayed as a sympathetic babyface and not a cocky heel. A soft turn of sorts, Axel is now on the good guy side.
