WWE RAW 30/10/13 Review
Paul Heyman's Proposal
Paul Heyman thrusts a load of compliments upon him, butters him up and eventually gets down on one knee before slowly asking "Will you be a Paul Heyman guy", and before we get an answer, CM Punk's music hits. He takes a while to appear, before he comes running through the crowd.
As he jumps over the barricade, he seemingly hurts himself. He sells the injury for the better part of a minute, and this slowly suckers Paul Heyman in, before Punk takes the chance to pull out a kendo stick and begin his onslaught.
He hits Heyman, then Ryback and then Axel. Eventually, Ryback manages to escape and join Heyman back at the top of the ramp, and they watch as Axel is destroyed by CM Punk, culminating in a GTS to a massive ovation.
Rating: 8.5/10
Review: This feud has really dominated the show more than any other, and has been better because of it. Three strong segments came from this which I have highlighted throughout, but once CM Punk hit the ring, he didn't need words.
This beatdown showed CM Punk's passion and aggression. Punk wants Heyman, and he needs to get him soon, while this rivalry is hot. Otherwise, we won't care what happens, and it will turn into a Joseph Park/Abyss situation.
Ryback is better off because of this rivalry, and it won't be punishing Punk. Whatever Ryback does with Heyman once CM Punk is back chasing the WWE Title, that is what is important.
Ryback needs a strong rivalry to follow Survivor Series (Big Show, Big E Langston, Curtis Axel, Dolph Ziggler etc.) to make him relevant, but at this point he needs more than a high profile rivalry; he needs to reverse his win/loss record.
The big guys aren't remembered for their promos, their ability to overcome or their resilience; they are remembered for their domination and their numerous victories, which Ryback doesn't have yet. It's now or never.
