WWE RAW 4/14/2014 Review: 5 Things We Learned

3. Comedian John Cena Makes An Appearance

For any of you that follow this weekly column, you know how I feel about John Cena: while he is the resident Superman for the WWE, he is still a great performer, pulling great matches out of mid-card players time and again, and he is also a fantastic ambassador for WWE through his selflessness with the Make-A-Wish foundation. Now with that said, I cannot stand the role he also plays at times as WWE's resident funnyman John Cena. And this week on RAW, we were treated to a stand up routine from the returning Cena comedian. This was a fantastic way to just ruin all the heat his feud with Bray Wyatt might have been gaining. For all the time they spent building towards Wrestlemania, and the great story they told at the event trying to pull the monster out of John Cena, now they are back to square one, with Cena making fun of Wyatt and all the work they have done thus far pretty much being flushed into the toilet. I don't understand why they feel the need to give us funnyman John Cena, when serious and and to-the-point John Cena works so much better. Hopefully this is a one-off appearance of Comedian John, and next week we can get back to the business of foreshadowing a hopefully brutal Extreme Rules rematch.
