WWE Raw Gallery: 25 Years Of Iconic Monday Nights

13. 2005 - "Come See Me At Ring Of Honor...ROH"

The Rock CM Punk
WWE

Dateline: 11th July, 2005

It was the storyline live audiences had demanded since the day reality bled through to fantasy earlier that year, but Matt Hardy's violent on-screen response to Edge and Lita's extra-curricular activities was deftly handled for the time.

The wronged man in every aspect following the pair's affair and his own firing, Hardy sought vindication in a real-enough-looking backstage assault on Edge before darting out of a nearby door. His second salvo in the ring following 'The Rated-R Superstar's match with Kane was equally gripping.

Positioned as a rebel, Matt struck fast and fierce before being shunted to the floor, screaming about 'Ring Of Honor' and ruining 'Adam's life on the nearest microphone as he did. It was an ideal and at-the-time-uncharacteristic blend of fact and fiction that satiated Hardy's baying crowd.
