WWE Raw Gallery: 25 Years Of Iconic Monday Nights

10. 2008 - Rick Roll

The Rock CM Punk
WWE

Dateline: 9th June, 2008

"It's all about the monnnayyyy" said Vince McMahon, never, before trotting it out every f*cking week in an effort to add a veneer of his Billionaire persona to a cannibalising concept he pursued for weeks on the flagship show.

Million Dollar Mania was a perplexing interjection for weeks on Raw in 2008 as McMahon himself hosted a lousy random-call gameshow that gave away cash to lucky recipients. Predictably, it hit a wall in week one. Clumsy with having to make his own calls, McMahon was a doddering dialler, made even worse when he barely got through to folk at the first attempt. Subjected to the meme of the day in the middle of his own live broadcast, Vince was 'RickRoll'd' by one caller that sacrificed $200,000 for the LOLz.

After weeks of this sh*t, the set collapsed Vince after he doled out $500,000. It was, for the second time in as many years, his attempt to kill his own persona. Yet again, only his credibility took the hit.
