Every show needs midcard heels, and no one fits that role better than Elias Samson. "The Drifter" was one of the most successful members of the NXT roster when it came to drawing heat, and that's not exactly easy with the overly smart Full Sail crowd. There's just something about him that is so inherently hateable it's contagious.

Samson has the potential to be an upper-midcard villain on the red brand, and if he gets over more than expected, he might actually find himself sneaking into secondary title contention. There's a backlash among NXT fans that Elias is getting called up while many "more talented" workers are being left in developmental, but that in itself is an example of why he's getting pushed to the main roster so early.

Out of everyone who had an actual debut on Raw, his was the most uneventful, just meandering around the stage with his six-string on his back. He's playing for keeps, and he might not make it back.

If New Day stays put on Raw, I guarantee you we will see a segment featuring Elias and his guitar squaring off with Xavier Woods and Francesca II. There's a lot of potential for some entertaining nonsense with this guy.

Don't be surprised if you see Samson drift his way into a feud with a guy like Dean Ambrose before the end of the year.

He could be a sleeper star.
